This game is a effectively Final Fantasy 1 clone prototype. It was basically made to just test programming a couple different feature in Godot.

Controls:

  • Arrow Keys/WASD - Move Character or Cursor
  • Space/Enter - Interact/Select
  • ESC - Open Menu (Overworld)/Undo Selection (Battle)
  • ~/Tilde - Debug Key (Hold while moving in Field to start a battle. Press while in battle to instantly flee)
  • Ctrl+M - Mute Music

General Features:

  • An Overworld and Battle Screen
  • Music
  • Sprites made using spritesheet animations

Overworld Features:

  • A town and open field level for the Overworld that can be walked between
  • Trailing party movement in Overworld
  • NPC's with simple dialogue box in Town
  • Menu with Items, and Status Menus
  • Equippable Items and Equipment with different effects
  • Random Battles in field (takes a random number of steps each time)
  • Levels made using tiles

Battle Features:

  • Simple tun-based combat with order based on speed
  • Random battles with random number and types of enemies
  • Combat log and simple HP/MP UI
  • Basic Attacks
  • Skills (based on chosen options in menu; require MP)
  • Items (Consumables based on chosen options in menu)
  • Flee option
  • Persistent HP/MP values between battles, as well as PC deaths

Not implemented Features:

  • XP/Gold progression
  • Options, Save, Load Menus
